About the event

Presentations from the webinar

2+2=5? Do you have an extraordinary exciting and groundbreaking idea for a research project, but need one or more other PIs to solve the puzzle? ERC Synergy Grants can be the solution for you. Register for our webinar!

ERC Synergy Grants (SyG) allow two to four outstanding "principal investigators" (PIs) to come together on a problem for a project and provide the opportunity for collaboration for up to six years. Top Norwegian researchers show good interest in this scheme and have been successful. The Research Council will encourage wider participation by organizing a webinar on 7. June. From the ERC Executive Agency, call coordinator Agnes Kulcsar participates with the latest news about the call for 2025, and Dr. Siri Eldevik Håberg at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and center director of Centre of Excellence "Centre for Fertility and Health", talks about her experiences in applying for and getting an ERC Synergy Grant with the "Biosphere" project.

With its individual grants, the ERC finances outstanding research leaders with ground-breaking ideas. Sometimes the research challenge is so complex and ambitious that it requires you to work together with other research leaders. This is where Synergy Grants come in. SyG is open to all disciplines and is bottom-up, and for researchers at Starting, Consolidator and Advanced Grants level. You can apply for funds of up to 10 million euros, plus up to 4 million in additional funds.

ERC SyG has a tentative call deadline already at the beginning of November 2024 for the budget year 2025, and the call for proposals opens in the summer, scheduled for 11 July 2024. Two to four "principal investigators" (PIs) can join forces on a project. One of the PIs in a SyG can work at an institution outside the EU member states or the associated countries. You can find information about SyG on ERC's website https://erc.europa.eu/apply-grant/synergy-grant

Full information about the call, including guidance documents, will be published when the call opens. On ERC's website you will also find information about the other types of ERC grants.

The meeting is held in English, and is intended for researchers and EU-advisers.
