About the Green Platform Initiative
The Green Platform Initiative provides companies and research institutes with financial support for research and innovation driven green growth and restructuring.
Through the Green Platform Initiative, the Government wants to trigger investments from companies in green, sustainable solutions and products.
The Green Platform Initiative will strengthen Norwegian exports and value creation, and enable us to implement the necessary green transition, create green growth and reduce emissions. It will also make Norwegian companies and research institutions better equipped to exploit the opportunities offered by the EU's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.
Green platform projects should encompass the entire value chain from research and knowledge production to testing, commercialisation and industrialisation of sustainable, green products and services.
The initiative was launched in May 2020 as part of the government's third package of measures as a result of the corona pandemic. It was followed up in 2022.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries is behind the initiative, but the sustainable green transition concerns the whole of society and has broad support in several ministries.
The Research Council, Innovation Norway, and Siva will allocate the funding between different funding schemes.
Several joint schemes also addresses the objectives of the Green Platform, including:
- PILOT-E
- PILOT-T
- The Research Council of Norway, Innovation Norway and Siva also have a joint action plan for the bioeconomy (PDF)
