Norwegian participation in Chips JU ECS R&I Calls 2025 is co-funded by the Research Council of Norway

The Chips for Europe Initiative under the European Chips Act is implemented through the Chips JU.  Chips is a European partnership under Horizon Europe with a focus on electronic components, semiconductor technology and system technologies.  The European Commission, industry organizations and participating countries together develop the work program.  The calls relevant for this national co-funding call are announced under Horizon Europe and on the website of Chips JU under "ECS R&I Calls". 

Planned Calls in 2025:

  • “RISC-V Automotive Hardware Platform” (80 mill Euro)
  • "AI-assisted Methods and Tools for Engineering Automation" (20 mill Euro)
  • "Heterogeneous integration for high-performance automotive computing" (20 mill Euro)
  • "Global IA Call" (70 mill Euro)
  • "Global RIA call" (40 mill Euro)

The joint call with Japan on "Boosting R&I cooperation between EU and Japan on semiconductors" does not require national co-financing.

It is important to read the "National eligibility guidelines for Norway". These describe several requirements, including that all projects must have at least one Norwegian company as a partner. It is also important to fill out the form "Template for National Part".

Norway is participating in these calls with a total national co-financing of at least NOK 31 million. Depending on the outcome of an early call in 2025, an additional NOK 24 million may be added to the call.
